The Best of 2011 and things to come in 2012 by Lori Wells Photography

2011 was a great year for Lori Wells Photography, we took on new challenges for our business along with some great captures.

We had some great models and clients to work with in 2011 and we also took on mentoring prospective new photographers, practice, practice, practice is definitely the key to growing and myself I am still growing as a photographer also and learning new things, 2011 I took on learning model photography and worked with some great new models and hope to continue to do that type of work in 2012.

2012 will be bringing lots of new challenges for Lori Wells Photography, sometime in 2012 we will be moving our business to a new destination, when the time comes I will be revealing that information to you all, we are looking forward to new adventures and locations in the coming year depending on how fast god moves us and begins our new beginnings, but never fear Lexington I will still be serving my faithful clients and will still be traveling to Lexington occasionally for sessions and definitely the restaurants but it is time for some new beginnings and we are looking forward to them.

Lori Wells Photography is working hard to meet all of your photographic needs.

This year we are providing dates for Lexington, London and Letcher County to get involved in our mini-sessions.

Sessions are $125 and include your high resolution dvd of images along with a 45 minute session up to 2 clothing changes at one location. These sessions are great for back to school portraits, family portraits, couple portraits, christmas portraits and soo much more. Get yours on the books today.

We are currently still working out dates for Lexington and London but right now the dates we are looking at for Letcher which are limited time slots are Oct. 28 & Oct. 29th.

Sessions are to be paid in full to pay for location and travel expenses. You will be sent a invoice and once paid we can schedule your photo session. Please take into consideration my time and yours when booking. Any cancellations will have to be rescheduled at a later date!!!

Lori Wells Photography offers a variety of photo sessions and we also offer your own customized dvd of images.

Your Session fee covers the time I spend with you the client, my creative talent and also my time creating your precious memories and making them special in my own creative way!
~High Resolution DVD of Images.
~Facebook Sneak Peeks
~Multiple Clothing Changes and Locations
~A gallery devoted to your session after the editing is all done for previews.

Our Everyday Session which includes 1-2hr at a location of your choice and you will recieve a high resolution dvd of images to print at a location of your choice. $200 we also offer specials throughout the year so please contact us for more information on those.

Maternity & Newborn Sessions: $500 includes your maternity session and your newborns photo within the first ten days and then 3,6,9,12 and 1yr old photos you will recieve a high resolution dvd of images with each session. There is a $250 deposit on those sessions.

Events: Those start at $200 and up depending on the event and travel.

Seniors the program of a lifetime:

2012 Seniors I have a opportunity of a lifetime for you:
Most seniors only have one session to do their senior pics, I am offering you the opportunity to get your sessions all throughout your senior year from the beginning of your senior year to the very end to capture all of those precious memories.
Sessions are $500 and include your high resolution dvd of images with $250 deposit.
If you want to include a friend the cost is $600 with a deposit of $300

With 2-4 friends the cost is $700 and the deposit is $300.
Summer is a great time to get started on those senior pics and get a jump start on all of your friends.
These sessions include multiple clothing changes with multiple locations of your choice. The program is good for all 2012 seniors.
This package includes: Rep cards, graduation announcements and all of your photos on a high resolution dvd.

First let me give a little background on the fresh face of 2011. I ran a contest back in Winter 2010 for our fresh face of 2011 with two winners in Letcher County, Kentucky. Our first place winner was Jess Whitaker and Pam Mullins was our second place winner, unfortunately on this day Jess wasn't able to join us for her session so we had to reschedule for another time. Me and Pam had a blast together and had soo much fun, other than the stalker we had in Blackey lol (private joke) but anyway we both worked hard on this humid and very hot day, we done shoots on railroad tracks, old restaurants, even the old Letcher High School, me and Pam laughed and talked about a variety of subjects and had a blast. The cool thing about Pam is she is also my brother and his wives best friend and after that hot, muggy Saturday I feel like I made a lifelong friend. Can't wait to work with her again.

Click it up a notch: What I learned

Click it up a notch wrote a blog post talking about the different ways you can work with black and whites and a couple of weeks ago prior to this I had learned a new way to change the look of my black and whites. For the two pictures I have I used the desaturate button and then I layered the photograph and went to the blend modes, there are a lot of choices to change your photos there from lighten to darken to screen, etc. The picture below I used the screen method to bring in more light to the photograph.

The picture below I used the pin light to blend it and it gave a totally new perspective to the photograph. There are soo many great things you can do to a photograph in photoshop and totally change the way a photo looks!

In her post she said to post one photo but I couldn't resist sending these two just to share the different perspectives to both and what you can do to a black & white photograph to make them different and stand out.

This week I am doing something that your not used to me seeing, I am doing a feature spotlight on one of my mentoring students, Wanda is working hard studying everything she can on photography to be the best photographer she can be, and I know how hard that is I myself still do the same thing because in photography you can never quit learning from photography to business to marketing there is so much to learn out there and you have to take it in and that is exactly what Wanda is doing, she is taking in and breathing everything about photography and that is why I want to showcase her and I want you all in Letcher county to show her some love while she grows in this business. As you can see reading Wanda's post she isn't only a friend, but also family. Wanda is also The official photographer and Public Relations person for up and coming bluegrass group Will Caudill & Route 7.

Describe your mentoring session with Lori Wells Photography.

When Lori Wells invited me to a mentoring session on photography after learning of my interest I was thrilled! I had been taking some small classes but they didn't go into a lot of detail on the aspects of shooting in manual, setting the ISO, apeture, and such and she offered to show me as much as she could during this time.

I have know Lori since she was a little girl with long blondish hair. She was a cutie then and now she has grown into a beautiful woman inside and out so I really looked forward to our session!

The day of the shoot I was so excited I could hardly contain myself. The day started with her showing me a few things about the camera I have and then progressed to actually taking pictures of our "models" Kayla, Chad and Maxton Caudill. Lori would pose them and then I would follow her example and take a picture of that pose or maybe make a subtle change to make it my own.

As the day progressed I became more confident in my ability to choose a pose and shoot in manual mode!

I learned so much and I think that the little girl I remember has now become a lifelong friend.

We exchange ideas and she mentors me by e-mail and we are planning on more sessions in the future.

I think that if more professional photographers would take a "newbie" under their wing as Lori has done me there would be more beautiful pictures taken and a lot more variety in their choices of shots and how they take them.

God bless Lori and I hope this is a relationship she and I can continue for the rest of our lives! She has been a Godsend to me and I have become much more confident in my skills!

First of all I absolutely loved working with Brittany & her family. There isn't a lot of sessions that I go on that I get to share my faith and actually pray with a family. Brittany is a senior from Henry Clay High School and she is actually getting ready to turn the corner on June 4th and graduate from high school into a whole new journey. Brittany is a absolute sweetheart and such a gem and I can't wait to work with her and her family in the coming summer and fall months when we do her maternity session and Baby Levi William's newborn session. I can't wait to work with this family again.

I want them to know they are always in my prayers and that I wish them all of god's blessings upon their lives and I can't wait to work with them again in August. I have already started preparing ahead for her maternity session and working on some new props for Levi's session also.

Lori Wells Photography Lexington Ky Photographer-Kayla Modeling Session

During our last stop in Letcher county I had a mentoring session setup with Wanda Whitehead of

W.L. Whitehead Snapshots for a mentoring session, plus I also had Chad & Kayla's family session setup so Kayla got to be our main model for the day, we had planned on multiple models but due to unforeseen circumstances that didn't happen but we had a great time with Kayla, so she modeled for me and Wanda both and we kept her busy with different poses and angles. We kept Kayla busy during this session, but we all had a awesome day together and can't wait till our next session here in the next few months.

We have been trying to plan a outdoor session for the longest time and we finally got our chance on this run and we had so much fun. Click it up a Notch is having a photography contest for the month of May where you pick your favorite images for that month and I have had so many great sessions for the month of May it is hard to pick just one, I had some great model sessions along with a great senior session the last couple of weeks.

I ended up choosing a photograph of my Model Kayla that I absolutely adore from her session, during this day we done her model session, along with a mentoring session so she was my model for the majority of the day.

Today I signed into my flickr account and I am going to be honest I hadn't opened it up since the last time I uploaded some new photos and I had added some to some of the groups and I opened up my profile to see I had a featured Photo on Love that Shot They loved the depth of field of the photo and the neutral colors that was added to it. This edit was done using photoshop actions, it is one of the many vintage actions I have been using to put emphasis on the background and therefore make the background and my model Tiffany stand out, it doesn't take much to make her stand out, she is absolutely gorgous. This photograph was done in the fall and when we done them it was freezing outside but Tiff was a trooper and we got some awesome shots and we are actually scheduled to do our spring shoot here soon, we where scheduled this weekend but due to the cold and the rain it just wasn't possible so we are praying for warmer temps next weekend and then we are going to hit downtown London and a few other places and create some awesome shots of Tiffany!!!

Lori Wells Photography hosted a 2011 spring cutest kid contest for Lexington, Ky and we had a outpouring of kids entered into the contest by their parents. Emily was our winner for our contest so today we went out and done her photo session. We hit two different locations: We went to Jacobson Park and also to the Arbetorium which is absolutely beautiful with all of the trees coming out right now. I absolutely love color and definition in photos and I look for those things and the photos I am showing you here definitely pop with color. 1. If your invoice isn't paid and I don't hear from you, your session is null and void.
2. If nothing is on the books and we have spoken about a particular date and I don't have a
definite date down for you, I will be giving that spot to the next paid client.

You have to be on the books in order to have a scheduled session with us. My time is precious to my family & friends and I would want the same respect from anyone else.

For those that have scheduled with us for our events, I want all of you to know you are fine and I will see you during your scheduled sessions in the spring. It is just time for some policy changes.

A little about Lori Wells Photography we are a on location natural light photographer, based out of Lexington Ky but we also travel to surrounding counties. Due to demand Lori Wells Photography has been asked several times about traveling to Indiana and Ohio for Photoshoots. We also have incentives, after you pay for your photoshoot and you give us 3 referrals you get a free photoshoot. So Indiana and Ohio in order for us to travel to you I need your appt plus 3-5 others for a one day event in your area. Let us come and take your photos and get to know your area.

I am also going to offer you my spring special I have going on right now. $125.00 includes your session fee and you get your high resolution dvd with it to print at a location of your choice with full rights to the copyrights and we will be using our full price of $200 before summer time so spring time is the best time to jump on these savings.

Lori Wells Photography is at it again. We are holding a contest for Lexington Ky for the cutest Kid contest.

First off this time the contest is a little different. It is not going to be determined by the # of likes on the photo. We are going to let you all submit your photos and then we are going to create a survey for you to pass around and ask all of your family and friends to vote for their favorite cutest kid, this takes out multiple likes on photos and makes it fair for everyone involved.

We will start taking photo submissions on March 1st-5th so get photos of your child having fun, modeling or whatever their favorite activity is. Lori Wells Photography is currently gearing up for spring sessions & events. We are currently working on three big events for the Spring.

One is our first spring event in Letcher county March 25-26.

I also also planning a event for Lexington for Easter for April 9 or the 16th. We are currently taking bookings for those now so please be getting your sessions on the books because these will go fast. Think Easter outfits and easter baskets for this session, we will do combinations of family and child for these. If you need newborn photos please get with me in advance so I can be planning for those.

In May for Letcher county I am talking with a hair and make-up stylist and we are still working out the details for that event. Sessions will be $150 and we will share more details as they come available as well as location and times.

Lori Wells Photography is a on location natural light photographer. On Location means we can come to your home and setup or you can pick a special location such as a park or a nature trail, etc.

Lori Wells Photography is searching for some new, fresh faces for our winter & spring sessions, we are currently holding a model search contest for a free session in both Letcher & Lexington, Ky. There will be one winner for both locations for our free photo session and a second place winner also for both locations that will win a discounted photo session.

In order to enter for the free model search contest you need to email loriwellsphotography@gmail.com a pic of your best model photo, took by you, entries will be disqualified if they have been taken by a professional photographer. When submitting your photo please put Photo Contest in the subject box please.

All the photos will be entered into a album on facebook on our page: Lori Wells Photography and the photo with the most likes on their photo will win the contest and the runner up will recieve the discounted session: Remember there will be two winners one from Lexington and one from Letcher and the winners can redeem their sessions either during our winter or spring sessions.

Starting Dec. 5th we will be starting to take your photos and the deadline for all photos to be in are Dec. 26th by 12pm eastern standard time, any late entries will be disqualified. Winners will be announced Jan 2nd, time to be announced at a later time.

First place winners: Free photo session with high resolution dvd.

2nd Place winners: Discounted session fee with a 40% discount with high resolution dvd.

Maxton is my precious little nephew who just turned 3 months old, we not only done his 3mo old pictures but also his christmas pictures also. Maxton is so alert and so interactive right now, I can't wait to see what type of interaction he gives us when he turns 6mo old. He has definitely took being photogenic after his simply beautiful parents Chad & Kayla. Maxton has a lot of great genes running through his blood, I just wish my mom was here to see her grandchildren, but I know she is watching down on them from heaven and just beaming at them.

This little family has my heart and soul, my brother Chad and his little family. We done their family christmas photo and also Maxton's 3mo old Photo's, he is growing by leaps and bounds and he looks so much like his daddy. Maxton is so precious and so interactive right now, can't wait till we do his 6mo old photos and it want be long till we will be doing his 1yr old photo and his 1st birthday party, time flies so fast anymore, enjoy these little one's while you still can! This family seriously rocked their photo session, We had two sisters and their families and we got their family photo altogether and then them as individual families and also sister pics ;) They came out in the snow and braved the cold and boy was it cold, but we still had a lot of fun for a 30min session. In the cold and the snow we done a hour's session in 30 minutes for both families, you guys totally rocked and we got some amazing images. God bless you all!

High Resolution DVD of Images $175 For Extra DVD's $100

New: We now carry Photo Books from $50-200 depending upon soft or hard cover and sizes, we carry sizes all the way up to 8x11

Maternity and One Year Program: $800 we will do your maternity photos and also your babies newborn photo's up to their one yr session and also their first birthday party event.

Referral Program: Refer up to 3 friends after your session and recieve a free photo session on us.

Events: $200 and up depending on travel and location.

Travel outside of Lexington requires a small gas fee.
